Persona 4 23: Overcoming (Beef Bowls and the Such)
Well, the writing for the game is spectacular. It’s a good thing then that the anime follows the game pretty slavishly. I’ve been hearing fans of other Megaten games clamoring for more anime adaptations, and at this point I’m sure that their wishes will come true. Not only that, but I bet you that the next Megaten anime will have a higher budget than this one.
So, is Nanako’s death and rebirth a cop-out? I don’t think so, for two reasons:
1) There is something to this coming back to life, something involving Teddie, and it’s going to be awesome. I don’t have a clue what it is (don’t spoil it for me!) but I’m sure it will.
2) Say they let her die. Then the realistic and, to us viewers, satisfying finale would involve the entire crew being terribly sad for the rest of the series. There’s just no way Yuu and company would have been able to get over this psychologically in time for the end of the show. So I’d much rather they have her come back to life and continue the optimistic tone of the show instead of turning grim all of a sudden, or worse, copping-out by somehow making Yuu forget about Nana-chan in the next episode.
The big reveal is that Namatame is an idiot, but not a murderer. Unless, of course, he turns out to be a great big liar. And then he could be anything and everything. And what’s up with Teddie?!
I loved this episode and honestly I don’t have much else to say about it. Here’s to a great episode 24!
